Wholesale Navy Beaverskin Flatbar Stool

A round stool upholstered in dark navy sheared beaverskin, standing on a satin brass flatbar base. One of a kind. Beaver carries one of the densest coats of any fur-bearing animal, roughly 20,000 hairs per square centimetre on the underbelly, which is what made it the material the North American fur trade was built on for two centuries. Worked as sheared beaver the long guard hairs are removed and the underfur is cut to an even short pile, leaving a surface with the density of the original coat but the hand of velvet. It takes dye deeply, which is how it reaches this near-black navy. The fur is drawn over a deep round cushion and hand-finished at the edge in our Houston workshop. The base is four flat brass bars in a satin finish, joined by an X stretcher near the floor so the frame stays open under the seat. Our fur is responsibly sourced.
