The LUCIO is a centennial olive tree native to Granada and is a true icon; historical, social and cultural of the province of Granada. It is a rare variety limited to the west of the province of Granada. There are hardly any examples of these olive trees, which are mostly centuries-old. It gives oils with unbeatable balance and sweetness, fresh and fruity. They are ideal in raw. Both variants of Lucio are early maturing and easy to harvest. Both have the advantage over other varieties such as Picual, of being trees more adapted to the extreme continental Mediterranean climate of the western area of Granada, better withstanding frost and drought. A sponsorship program has recently been launched to save these olive trees, since there are only 10,000 hectares of these centuries-old olive trees left.
