The Magnetic Series is designed with intention, inspired by our iconic history in the pen industry. At a time of prolific manufacturing, Tom Hessin (then known as T.Hessin & Co) made pen nibs at their premises, at the Magnetic Works in Birmingham, England. Here, nibs were magnetised – a process, which meant the nibs were easier to handle. At this time, ‘hawkers’ would set off to Birmingham’s Bullring market and attract passers-by to show the magnetised nibs floating in water and pointing to the north. With all this history, we were compelled to show our legacy story in our latest designs in the Magnetic Series.
