It is a Zhuyezhong, small leaf cultivar, harvested in late May this year. It was expertly plucked (one bud with one or two leaves), withered, hand-rolled, oxidized in bamboo baskets and traditionally charcoal baked. It yields a deeply smooth body, with rich notes of toasted cacao and sweet melon. Stunning taken black or with milk. The landscape images are of the small, generations-old tea gardens in Keemun where this exquisite tea was grown. And the portrait is of YU Gan-Chen, the inventor of Keemun black tea (circa 1875).
