Description

30 g / 1.06 oz Description: Chong Tae Jeon is a rare and ancient style of fermented tea, unique to Korea and believed to be the country’s only post-fermented tea still produced today. Revived after centuries of obscurity, this tea is made using traditional techniques passed down by monks at Borimsa Temple since 860 CE. Compressed into discs and aged naturally, the tea develops deep, earthy flavors and a smooth, mellow character over time. Crafted from wild-grown leaves harvested from ancient tea bushes in the forests of Jangheung, Cheong Tae Jeon is a living expression of Korea’s hidden tea heritage. + Hand Crafted + Wild Harvested + Traditionally Fermented Tasting Notes: Earthy, smooth, with hints of dried mushroom, cedar, and a soft, lingering sweetness. Brewing Instructions: Metric: * Bring filtered water to 95–100°C * Use 1 tea disc per 0.5 liters of water * Rinse once with hot water, then steep 8–10 minutes. Re-steep as desired. Imperial: * Bring filtered water to 203–212°F * Use 1 tea disc per 16 ounces of water * Rinse once with hot water, then steep 8–10 minutes. Re-steep as desired. Source Information: Sourced from a tea master in Jangheung, South Korea, who is preserving the ancient methods of post-fermentation and disc pressing. These leaves are grown wild and processed with care, connecting each cup to centuries of Korean Buddhist tea tradition.
