Description
Amsterdam has a vast array of water canals over 100km, around 60 miles. These 165 canals divide the city into small islands connected by over 1200 bridges, with the oldest completed in 1648; the Torensluis. Most channels can be accessed by private boats, group tours, or rental boats, with many moored on the canal edges next to houseboats. The city’s bridges were built to withstand the horse and cart weight of the time, which have since been affected by the trucks and a small number of cars passing through the canal ring. With this data visualisation art print, we count fun facts about Amsterdam concerning its most famous attraction, the canals: how many canals and km, bridges, islands, houseboats and bikes. Museum-quality poster, giclée-printed in a matte finish on archival, acid-free paper.
