The cups were first produced in the 1960s and 1970s, when ORIGAMI's manufacturing plant was established, and were redesigned to fit modern tastes. Their design utilizes the soft texture of colored clay rather than pure white clay, giving it a soft and warm color. The cups are designed to match in the diameter and height of their base so that they can be stacked and stored. The shape and size of the handles have also been fine-tuned to fit the size of people's hands. The three colors reproduce the soft earthy tones of stoneware and the coloring of the glaze, and come in three designs: cups, mugs, and saucers. The warm vintage look blends well with interiors of all tastes.
