To pay homage to the century-old art form of the Matryoshka, we proudly introduce our "Peasant Matriarch" also known as "The Rooster Girl" - a faithful replica of the first Russian nesting doll created in the 1890s by toymakers outside Moscow. Made in the tradition of the very early matryoshkas, she has woodburned outlines, an antique palette, and matte finish. Even the shape is true to the old style of doll. To hold her in the hand is to love her! This historical collector's item belongs in every nesting doll collection! She is the Mona Lisa of the matryoshka world. A Golden Cockerel exclusive fully handpainted in St. Petersburg, Russia.
