Many of her children's book illustrations include plants, animals, homes and scenery common to the region. Tamala is a proud mom, a California real estate broker and a lawyer. She holds a Bachelor's degree in economics from San Diego State University and a law degree from the University of San Diego. Tamala fell in love with children's books when she read scores of them to her own children. The more books she read, the more she loved them. Tamala always dreamed of becoming an author, but never really knew how to get started. Often she would have a great idea for a book. She would get excited about it, and then let that idea slowly pass away into that overflowing wasteland where good ideas go to die. Finally she challenged herself to spread her own wings and fly. The Brave Sophia series was born out of her determination to be brave and her resolve to never allow another brilliant idea to expire.
