This textile is woven of indigo-dyed and undyed 100% cotton threads, in Nigeria, by the Tiv people. This style of textile is called "kubeba", translated as "tortoise" because the design reminds them of a tortoise shell. The entire textile is composed of 9 bands, woven in this distinctive ikat style, then sewn together, side by side to form a larger textile. Because of the instability of the dyes used in the Nigerian traditional context, we cannot guarantee that this textile will not run if washed. Dry cleaning would be the safest cleaning technique although hand washing might work acceptably. This textile measures 72 x 49" (183 x 124 cm) Weight - 5Lb
