Description
Our team has specialists in each part of the jaspe process. Hundreds of people do the tying and dyeing work, but only a select few specialize in labor tying. ‣ 100% hand-spun Guatemalan cotton ‣ Weaving technique: back-strap loom ‣ Dyed naturally with plants ‣ Handmade in Guatemala ‣ All products are entirely made by hand, there will always be a slight difference in color and dimensions Our team has amarradores, men and women who tie labor jaspe and come from amarrador lineage. Amarradores "tyers" arrange the threads, tie them into their designs, and after dyeing, to realign the threads before weaving. These three steps are critical for the clarity of the woven patterns. Depending on the complexity of the designs, skilled amarradores can tie about 160 yards of warp per day. Once the textiles are dyed and woven, the team sends the textiles to our highest skilled sewers who turn the fabric into our beautiful finished robes. Looking for custom gifts for your event?
