Description
Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata) is steam distilled from the wild growing flowers of Comoros. It is distilled over the course of 14 hours. During this time various grades are extracted: Extra, #1, #2, #3. The remaining plant material is used to make the inferior cananga oil. Ylang Ylang #3 is the most commonly offered quality and a pleasant oil for aromatherapy. The intense scent is heady, floral, and sweet. It is jasmine-like. In aromatherapy, it has sedative qualities, can be stress-reducing, emotionally balancing, help with sleep, and be a great aphrodisiac. Ylang Ylang works best when it is very subtle. Just 1-2 drops of Ylang Ylang diluted in 1 ounce of unscented body care or massage oil will still have a strong aroma. It is delighted in skin products for its balancing effect. Ylang Ylang is great for the hair as well; try applying diluted oil to your hairbrush or unscented shampoo for vigor and shine.
