Mica on Albite Chunk #1 Here is a specimen of muscovite that is way better than what you usually see in a mica specimen. The crystals have grown in a tight cluster of individual books of hexagonal crystals with superlative crystal form, all grouped together in helter-skelter fashion on a matrix of bright white albite. The individual crystal books have a bright metallic luster and are colored a silvery bronze that is very attractive. The piece displays really well, and there is no damage. Micas are translucent to opaque with a distinct vitreous or pearly luster, and different mica minerals display colors ranging from white to green to black.
