Gillian Anderson glass votive altar candle from Flaming Idols. Gillian’s feminist impact is wide-reaching- her role as Dana Scully, medical doctor and FBI agent on The X-Files catalyzed significant numbers of women to enter into science and medical fields, a phenomenon known as The Scully Effect. Gillian has aligned herself with many social justice causes, speaking out and fundraising for women’s right to choose, freedom from domestic violence and youth empowerment in South Africa among many. While Gillian identifies as hetero, she has spoken of past relationships with women and stated, "To me a relationship is about loving another human being; their gender is irrelevant." Candle is hand-poured with soy wax and burns for approximately 10 hours. Glass votives are 2.5in high and 2in wide at the base. Each votive is affixed with an opaque sticker with an image of a person and on the opposite side, a translucent sticker with biographical information about the person.
