Wholesale Brass oil lamp with openwork and repoussé decoration, with tulip shade – Belle Époque, circa 1880–1910

There is something of the light of bygone days in this lamp: warm, slightly trembling, enveloped in the blown glass of the tulip-shaped shade. The gilded brass, patinated by time, catches the light differently depending on the angle, bringing to life the two decorative friezes that adorn the body of the lamp. The upper frieze features openwork floral motifs in clovers and rosettes, alternated with round perforations. The lower frieze displays volutes and shells in relief within round openwork medallions, of remarkable fineness. The burner with a wick-adjustment wheel is functional. The circular base with concentric moldings provides a stable footing. Some deformations of the metal are visible on the friezes and the base, consistent with the age and use of the piece. The clear blown cylindrical glass shade is present and in good condition.
