Rare, coordinated pair of lamps made from original ceramic vases by Walter Brecht – a striking example of the form and color aesthetics of West German pottery from the 1970s. The vases feature a distinctive, almost architectural silhouette with a side handle and a clearly defined shoulder. The characteristic glaze runs from deep night blue at the top into a bright, textured red on the body – a typical, high-quality color transition of the period. Both vases were carefully and sympathetically converted into table lamps and paired with custom-made lampshades. Lampshades: The shades are covered in a high-quality deep-blue fabric featuring an elegant crane motif. The bright red trim provides a deliberate contrast and picks up the vases’ coloration – a very coherent, graphically strong overall appearance with a Japanese-inspired feel.
