Each piece is handmade one at a time in Susan’s small studio and fired twice in a ceramic kiln to approximately 2000°F. Because they are individually made, subtle variations in size, shape, speckling, and surface mottling are natural and make each piece unique. Clay Fossils combines simple black imagery with words that are meaningful, unexpected, and sometimes a little wild. Set against a glossy ivory ceramic surface with subtle speckles and natural mottling, each piece is designed to make someone stop, read, and connect. Store owners tell us that customers often stop to read the messages and then choose several because they find different words and images that speak to them. They make meaningful small gifts for friends, family, loved ones, and themselves—and are designed to be enjoyed year-round.
