It was a muggy, damp day in early July. I had just reached the 1300 mile marker on the Appalachian Trail. You could say I was having a rough day - I wasn’t even very excited to see the 1300 mile mark. I was putting my pack back on to hike when a flash of orange caught my eye. I saw the cutest scene I’ve ever laid my eyes on. I quickly and quietly threw my pack down and crept over. I was able to snap a quick photo of the red efts before they moved. I turned this photo into a painting and dubbed it "Praising the Mushroom". This moment turned my whole day around.
