Mini Canvas Print - MC09 Gerald Dawavendewa (Hopi & Cherokee) A Hopi butterfly maiden with feather wands and headdress symbolizing clouds and rain dances with dragonflies as rain clouds gather above the mesas. Each fall, young girls take part in a ceremony named "Poliitkive" or the Butterfly dance, in which the girls represent the spirit of the butterflies traveling from flower to flower pollinating and giving life to the world around them. Both dragonflies and butterflies symbolize the promise of life-giving moisture. Mini Canvas print 6 inches square (15.24 cm square) Print uses fade and water-resistant ink. Like any artwork, please keep it out of direct sunlight. Print image wraps around the edges over a wood frame with a sawtooth hanger. A clear resealable envelope with a hanging tab protects the print. Card on backside includes: A description of the print. A biography of the artist. Information about the indigenous culture.
