100% – you can’t get more cacao than this. A single origin chocolate that offers cacao on the palate and absolutely nothing else. Made with Peruvian cacao from Cacao de Aroma, the taste and texture are softened with added cocoa butter, giving the impression of a bar of far lower cacao content. This bar is pure, without added sugar or other ingredients. From the river, we could see the lush, green hills that used to grow coca plants. Until recently, this region was famous for coca cultivation. Now, the farmers of the new Cacao de Aroma cooperative grow organic cacao trees instead. This is a huge opportunity for them, and an extremely important project for us to support. Cacao de Aroma exported their first cacao beans to us at Zotter, in Austria. We were pleased to host the cacao farmers when they visited, strengthening a close and long-standing cooperation. We were the first chocolate producers to ever visit them.
