One of the best-selling items in the collection, and not by accident: it is an object with a story a shopkeeper can retell in one sentence. Works in kitchen, home and gift shops and in museum shops. THE STORY The box is made by hand in India from reclaimed wood taken from demolished houses and buildings. Every piece of wood carries traces of its former life — remnants of paint, old grain, nail holes — which makes each box unique. In India a bride is traditionally given a spice box as a symbolic gift for her household, with room for seven spice blends that flavour the daily meal. This version honours that tradition within a circular design. The wood comes from demolition sites and is given a second life in a fair trade workshop. IN STORE Don't sell it only as a spice box: the seven compartments work just as well for tea, keys, jewellery or tealights. Customers who don't store spices buy it as a tray for the hallway. Display it open on the shelf so the compartments are visible. PRACTICAL Case of 8. Seven compartments. Wipe clean, dry.
