Natural Himalayan salt will vary in color and may have color banding due to how the salt layers formed in the Earth. Some see this banding where colors change rapidly and think it is a defect, but this is natural where the water evaporated and different salt layers (with different color shades) bound together in the natural process millions of years ago.
