Surrounded by the largest remaining undisturbed grasslands in America, the area known as Badlands National Park preserves some of the wildest land the west has to offer. The Badlands Wilderness is a site of heavily eroded dry terrain, and is cloaked by a dark and haunted history. Back in 1890 the Native American ghost dances occurred in the Badlands. Later that same year just south of Badlands at Wounded Knee, more than 150 Lakota Indians were massacred by military troops.
