Description
Saint Joan of Arc Joan of Arc was a visionary. When she was just a young girl, she had visions of angels. She was overwhelmed by the experience. She ran away from home many times to go to the church to pray, sometimes spending the night there in passionate and fervent prayer. When She was older, her visions changed. She began to see a light, from which the voice of God would speak to her. That voice told her to serve her monarch, the Dauphin of France, who had not yet been crowned as king. By tradition, this could only happen in the cathedral at Orleans, a city that was held by the army of England. The people knew of a prophecy in which a maiden would lead their people to freedom. Taking St. Joan to be that maiden, they followed her call to arms. The army she raised took the city, and the Dauphin was crowned king. Her story ends with her capture by the English, who brought her before the Inquisition. She was found guilty of witchcraft and burned at the stake. Fine Lead-Free Pewter.
