In Noiron-sous-Gevrey, in the Côte-d'Or, the Dubost family carried on a Burgundian pottery tradition rooted in earth and fire. Their utilitarian stoneware, fired at high temperature in flame kilns, developed those deep, almost black-brown, dense, satin-like hues that only deepen with time. This large pitcher is a fine example. The silhouette is assured and elegant: a full, generous belly, a narrowed neck that opens into a slight pinched spout, a solid, substantial handle. The line is simple, controlled, timeless. No superfluous decoration. Just the clay, the fire, the form. The surface, satin-finished by time, reveals subtle reddish-brown highlights depending on the light. On the base, the impressed stamp "Dubost – Noiron" attests to its origin and period of production. At 25 cm high, it is not a small serving pitcher. It is a piece with presence.
