I really wanted to love this new espresso machine, but honestly I’m struggling. I was expecting an incredible upgrade, yet my older — and much cheaper — machine performs so much better. The espresso extraction is extremely messy; coffee sprays and drips everywhere during the shot pull, and I mean everywhere. I’ve already tried adjusting multiple extraction settings and profiles, but nothing seems to fix it.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and we’re sorry to hear the machine hasn’t met expectations so far! Because our Espresso Series 1 is designed with a high-performance commercial-style extraction system, it can actually be more sensitive to puck preparation and grind consistency than entry-level machines. When the puck is unevenly distributed, clumped, or ground slightly too coarse or fine, the pressure can create small channels that lead to spraying during the shot. A few things that usually help resolve this: -Try grinding slightly finer and ensure the grind size is consistent. -Use a distribution tool or gently tap the portafilter to level the grounds before tamping. -Tamp firmly and evenly so the puck surface is completely flat. -Avoid overfilling or under-filling the portafilter, as both can contribute to uneven flow. Once dialed in, the Series 1 is capable of extremely balanced and clean extractions, so we’d love the opportunity to help you get there! —FELLOW • 14 mag 2026

Our customers have nothing but positive things to say.. only negative was the learning curve, but they’re also new to proper espresso extraction, so I can’t comment on how much of that curve is due to their inexperience or the machine. I’d venture to say it’s the inexperience.
