Wholesale 24-piece dessert cutlery set, yellow galalith, H. Antoine Grenoble, original case

Grenoble, Grande Rue. H. Antoine, cutler. A case covered in cream embossed paper, two brass shell-shaped clasps, powder-pink satin lining. It is opened. Twenty-four dessert pieces are there, arranged in their original slots, intact. The handles are in lemon-yellow galalith veined with black, that natural plastic material derived from milk casein, invented at the end of the 19th century and triumphant in tableware of the 1920s–1940s. The bright yellow, the black veining, the gilt joining collars. It's a color that does not age, it asserts itself. Twelve dessert knives, gold-toned metal blades. Twelve dessert forks, gold-toned metal tines. The service is complete, the case in very fine condition, the cutler's label legible under the lid. On a table dressed in white linen, this flatware changes everything. It brings color, character, the memory of an era when one chose cutlery as one chose dresses.
