Description
The Extra-Large Groundbreaker Broadfork is built for growers who want to loosen more soil with every pass. With a 34-inch working width and five hand-forged tines, this model allows you to prepare wide garden beds quickly and efficiently. Despite its size, this tool remains exceptionally lightweight at approximately 13 pounds (hickory handles), making it far easier to handle than most extra-wide forks on the market. The main tine bar is constructed from hollow structural tubing, significantly reducing weight while maintaining excellent strength and durability. Each of the five square tines is hand-forged. The tines are made from mild steel, allowing them to be bent back into shape if necessary. Square tines are used because they properly lift and aerate soil, opening the structure without slicing through it. Like the standard model, the Extra-Large Groundbreaker features a wide two-inch step plate positioned above the tine bar. This plate provides a comfortable surface for your foot when driving the tool into the ground. Unlike traditional forks that force you to step on a narrow bar, the wider plate distributes pressure across your foot and makes extended work far more comfortable. The plate is plasma cut with the name Groundbreaker XL, giving the tool its distinctive appearance. Handles are available in steel pipe or hardwood hickory, both fitted with rubber grips and secured with two bolts per socket for maximum strength. The interchangeable handle design allows you to swap handle types at any time. Like all Groundbreaker tools, this broadfork is hand-built with careful craftsmanship and designed for years of reliable use in gardens and small farms.
