These sweet little birds are all about support. We need people in our lives to encourage us to spread our wings. Sometimes, the support from people we care about is all it takes for us to actually take a chance on ourselves. Be the brave, beautiful soul you are. My bird series broke tradition for me. This piece didn't start with my typical bold, black graffiti marks for a base layer. I wanted the canvas to become more of a patchwork, creating segments and perches for little birds to rest their wings. I did apply mark making to the layers once the base was created. As you can see some of the marks mimic rain coming from the cloud. For me, painting realistic objects in abstract settings is the perfect combination.
