This is an unusual gold colored substance, some believe it to be a tektite. Libyan desert glass arose around 29 million years ago. The glass generated as a result of a meteorite impact or an airburst from an asteroid or other item burning up high in the Earth’s atmosphere. The meteorite’s impact shot molten rock and sand into the stratosphere, forming a glass-like substance that developed when the debris returned to Earth. Some fragments appear to be pitted like meteorites, while others appear to have been polished and blasted over time by sand storms and other terrestrial events.
