Convertible sling shoulder bag / back pack pack with dark leather trim and leather drawstring closure and batik print lining. The sling bags and tote bags from our Borneo Collection are handwoven by the indigenous Dayak people of Borneo using split rattan from Central Kalimantan, one of the only areas in the world where rattan is harvested in a sustainable way to preserve the forest. Our artisan partners use centuries old weaving techniques, premium leather and batik print linings from Java to create these unique bags for stylish, socially conscious women. A renewed interest in Dayak weaving is providing a sustainable livelihood for these artisans while reviving centuries old weaving traditions. Two-tone patterns tell mystical tales and age old stories, preserving aspects of Dayak cultural heritage.
