How does Insider work for Canadian retailers?


In this guide


Insider is our paid membership program for Canadian retailers. It’s the best way to shop on Faire! Insider members receive the following benefits as part of their membership:

  • Free shipping on thousands of brands, selected by Faire, requiring an order minimum of $400 CAD or $700 CAD to qualify.
  • Exclusive, early access to Faire’s online buying events and new brand arrivals on the site.
  • Access to phone support to request a call from a Faire team member to talk through issues or ask questions.

As an Insider member, you get free shipping on thousands of unique brands—meaning less risk to try new products, and more savings to put back into your store.


Where is Insider available, and how can I join?

Insider is available to all Canadian retailers. If you haven’t joined Insider before, you can start with a free 30-day trial. Depending on your eligibility, you’ll have the option to choose a monthly or annual plan when you sign up. Annual billing is currently offered to a limited group of retailers as part of an early rollout. We’re working to expand access to more retailers in the future.

To get started:

  1. Log in to your Faire account
  2. Visit the Insider tab, where you'll see an option to sign up
  3. If applicable, select your preferred plan

You might also see the option to join Insider during checkout—this only appears when your order would qualify for Insider free shipping with a participating brand if you were a member. If eligible, you’ll see Insider free shipping as a shipping method at checkout. Some orders may require a minimum spend (ex: $400 CAD or $700 CAD ) to qualify, and this will be clearly noted.

By selecting Insider free shipping at checkout and placing your order, you agree to the Insider Terms and Conditions and will be enrolled in a monthly paid membership once any applicable free trial ends.


How much does Insider cost?

The Insider membership fee is $34.99 CAD (exclusive of applicable taxes) per month and will be charged monthly to the payment method you selected when signing up. The monthly membership fee helps ensure we can continue providing you exclusive benefits to maximize your savings when you shop on Faire.

Note: If you sign up for an Insider trial when checking out for an order, once your 30-day trial expires, your Insider membership fee will be charged to the same payment method, unless you edit your preferred payment method in your Insider tab.

Some retailers may be elligble for an annual membership at a discounted rate, as part of a pilot we are running. If your Insider membership charge differs to $34.99 CAD, this is likely because you are elligible for an annual membership and you have selected this option.


How do I find brands with Insider free shipping on Faire?

While you’re shopping, look for the Insider key to see eligible brands. There are two types of Insider free shipping offers you might see:

  • Insider free shipping :You’ll get free shipping with no minimum spend required. Order minimums set by brands still apply in order to check out.

  • Free shipping over $400: If you spend more than $400 CAD on your order, you’ll unlock free shipping as part of your Insider benefits.

  • Free shipping over $700: If you spend more than $700 CAD on your order, you’ll unlock free shipping as part of your Insider benefits.

For Insider free shipping over a minimum, your subtotal must be $400/$700CAD or more after any applicable discounts and before any applicable taxes or fees to qualify for Insider free shipping.

You can also filter your shopping experience so you only see products with Insider free shipping. To do so, find the Insider filter at the top of the category and click to filter.

Do the brands I get Insider free shipping on ever change?

Insider coverage is refreshed quarterly. This means Insider members will have Insider free shipping on a largely consistent selection of brands, but we’ll refresh Insider free shipping coverage quarterly so we can offer free shipping on as many orders as possible.

On the first day of each quarter retailers with an active membership may gain free shipping with brands, and some quarters your free shipping will expire on select brands (typically, free shipping will expire on less than 5% of the brands you’ve ordered from with Insider free shipping). Two weeks before each quarterly refresh, we’ll notify active Insider members by email and through the Insider tab of upcoming changes.

Note the dates of each quarterly refresh are: January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1.


How does Faire select which brands have free shipping?

As an active Insider, you get free shipping on a unique set of brands selected for your shop. We determine eligibility based on how much it typically costs to ship from each brand to your location, using your shipping address and the brand’s past reported shipping costs.

You can’t request free shipping from specific brands as part of your Insider membership.

Your free shipping coverage may change during Insider’s quarterly updates. For details, visit Do the brands I get Insider free shipping on ever change? These updates are automatic, and we aren’t able to add individual brands by request.


How are the costs of Insider free shipping covered?

Faire covers most of the shipping costs for Insider Free shipping. On some orders, brands will cover the shipping costs if they have a Faire Direct relationship with you (meaning, they pay 0% commission to Faire when they receive orders from you) and have chosen to be an Insider Partner. What are Insider Partner brands?

Insider Partner brands are brands in Canada, the US and Australia that have chosen to partner with Faire to grow the Insider free shipping coverage on their products. Brands can participate in this brand-facing program, the Insider Partnership, at their discretion. Here’s how it works:

  • For brands that are Insider Partners, Faire pays for expanded free shipping on eligible marketplace Insider orders (orders where we take a commission), and the brand pays for free shipping on eligible Faire Direct Insider orders (0% commission).
  • For brands that choose not to be Insider Partners, Faire will offer eligible Insiders in the marketplace a baseline level of free shipping on that brand (paid by Faire).

Note that if a brand you shop from is an Insider Partner, it does not guarantee you’ll get free shipping on their brand, as Insider eligibility is still determined at the individual brand-retailer level based on estimated shipping costs.


How does Faire phone support work?

As part of your Insider membership, you’ll get exclusive access to Faire phone support. We operate on a callback basis. Once you request a phone call, a support specialist will contact you within 3 minutes during our operating hours, 9am - 8pm ET. To request a call:

  1. Select the Contact us button located in our Help Center
  2. Sign into your Faire account
  3. You’ll be directed to either:
    1. The virtual assistant Chat with us widget:
      1. You can describe your issue to the virtual assistant. It will respond with answers or provide available support options, including phone support
    2. A page with prompts you can fill in to tell us more about the issue:
      1. Fill out the form with details about your issue
      2. Choose Request a call from Faire

You’ll need an active Insider membership in order to access phone support.


Do I lose access to phone support if I cancel my Insider membership

Yes, Faire phone support is an exclusive benefit for members of Insider. If you cancel your Insider membership, you will no longer have access to Faire phone support, but you’ll still be able to contact the Faire customer experience team over chat or email.

Once you cancel your membership, your benefits, including phone support access, will last until the end of your billing cycle.


How does billing work?

When you first sign up for Insider, you’ll get a free 30-day trial. This trial is only available once per retailer. If you’ve had an Insider membership before, you won’t be eligible for another free trial.

After your trial ends, your paid membership will start automatically. You’ll be charged based on the plan you selected, either monthly or annual, and your membership will auto-renew as follows:

  • Monthly plan: Renews every 30 days from the end of your trial.

  • Annual plan: Renews every 365 days from the end of your trial. Annual billing is currently offered to a limited group of retailers as part of an early rollout. We’re working to expand access to more retailers in the future.

Charges are billed to your default payment method on Faire, like your credit or debit card or bank account. If you update your default payment method during your membership, future charges will be billed to the new method.

To view your billing history or download invoices, go to your Insider membership settings and select View Billing History.


Can I pause my membership?

Yes, you can pause your Insider membership for up to 4 months, maximum. If you'd like to pause your membership:

  1. Go to the Insider tab in your account
  2. Select from the following options:
    1. No thanks will bring you to the option to pause
    2. Keep Insider membership will keep your membership active without pause
  3. Select Pause Insider membership
  4. Choose how long you want to pause your membership for

Your membership pause will start on your next billing date.

If you choose to resume your paused membership, you can select Resume Insider Membership on your Insider tab. This will show your monthly payment and the card that is going to be charged again.

Once you resume your membership, you will be charged automatically on the exact day they resume it and then every 30 days from the resume date.


Can I extend a pause on my membership?

If you need to pause your membership for longer than the 4-month limit, you’ll need to submit a new pause request after your current pause ends. Your membership will still be charged on the day it resumes, even if you pause it again right away.

If you expect to take a longer break, cancelling your membership may be a better fit. You can rejoin at any time by signing up again through your account.


Can I cancel my membership?

Yes, you can manage your membership anytime from your Insider settings page. After clicking on Cancel membership, you’ll see two options:

  • Cancel membership: If you choose to cancel, your membership will remain active until the end of your current billing cycle. You’ll continue to receive Insider benefits until then. During the cancellation process, we may ask a few quick questions to confirm your choice or learn why you’re leaving—this helps us improve the Insider experience.

  • Pause membership: You can pause your membership for up to 4 months. If you don’t resume it sooner, it’ll automatically restart at the end of the 4-month period.

Your next billing date is listed beside Next payment in your Insider settings.


How does the Insider quarterly refresh work?

Insider free shipping coverage updates at the start of each quarter—on January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1.

During each refresh, we review your current free shipping brands to see if they still qualify based on the cost to ship from the brand to your location. We also check other brands to see if they now meet the eligibility criteria. This means your list of eligible brands may change each quarter—you might gain or lose free shipping with some brands.

You’ll get a heads-up, via email and in your portal, two weeks before each refresh so you can plan your orders in advance.


Why did I lose Insider free shipping with a brand?

If you no longer have Insider free shipping with a brand after a quarterly refresh, it means their shipping costs to your location are too high to meet the eligibility threshold.

We calculate this threshold as a percentage of your order value. The exact percentage depends on whether the brand participates in the Insider Partnership program. To determine if eligibility should continue, we look at the brand’s past shipping costs to retailers in your area and their costs on your own orders when available, and compare them to the maximum allowed for eligibility.

We use the same criteria for all brands each quarter to keep things fair and consistent. If you lose coverage, it’s usually because of a sustained rise in shipping costs or a change in the brand’s Insider Partnership status.

We’ll always give you two weeks’ notice before a change takes effect so you can plan ahead.


How does annual billing work?

If you're part of the limited group of retailers included in the early rollout of annual billing, you’ll see the option to choose between monthly or annual billing when you sign up.

If you don’t see the annual option, it means you’re not currently part of this early rollout group. We’re not able to manually add retailers to this group, but we’re working to expand access over time.

If you select annual billing, your full Insider membership fee will be charged in one payment after your free trial ends—or immediately if you’ve already used a trial in the past. This charge is non-refundable, and you won’t be able to switch back to monthly billing during the 365-day billing period.

Your Insider benefits will remain active for the full year. If you cancel during that time, your benefits will continue through the end of the paid term, and you won’t be charged again when the year ends.
