Tokoname 常滑焼 is one of the six oldest kilns in Japan, a city of pottery steeped in history with a history over 1000 years. Tokoname-ware is a form of ceramic pottery that is produced in the area around the city of Tokoname in Aichi prefecture. This traditional craft comes from one of the Six Ancient Kilns of Japan. Its unique color is caused by the iron which makes the clay turn red after baking. The entire unit strains the tea and drains the remaining water completely.
