This product is a collaboration between Kayu&Co. Australia & HANDEP Indonesia. HANDEP is a social enterprise based in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. Their aim is to empower Indigenous women and small-scale farmers by creating fine sustainable fashion and home decor products. HANDEP (Handmade Ethical Products) as the name says, all of our products are skilfully and sustainably made by Indigenous Dayak artisans. Rattan isn’t only an eco-friendly material, but also the MOST a type of natural fiber used for construction materials, furniture and crafts. Not only that, rattan-based rural livelihoods also contribute to forest preservation as rattan can only grow in forest environment, not as monoculture. Our products are handmade using Dayak weaving techniques. All process requires almost no fossil fuel, making you carbon- gulity free.
