The Paddleboat that we have reproduced in scale comes from folio 945r of the Codex Atlantico, whose original is found at the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan. Leonardo has designed other models that use the blades as a means of propulsion, driven by muscle power through handlebars or, as in our case, by a complex system of gears that allow through pedals to transform the alternating movement of the feet into the rotational movement of the blades. The scaling did not allow us to reproduce all the elements that make up the gear system.
