These pillow style gift boxes are made from handmade lokta paper by the inspirational Get Paper Industries in Nepal and are available in 3 colours. All the paper is Fair Trade and handmade in Nepal from Lokta, a plant native to the Himalayas. The vibrant colours are created using only azo-free dyes. Minimum order of 10 boxes per colour. Dimensions: XS 13.4 x 13 cm Small 17 x 13 cm Large 24 x 18 cm All our gift boxes are handmade by Get Paper Industries (GPI), an incredible, socially aware cooperative in Nepal. The paper is made from the bark of the Lokta or Daphne papyracea plant, that grows in the foothills of the Himalayas. Mountain villagers trek to where the lokta grows, harvest it, then transport it back to the village. It is boiled, cleaned, then beaten with mallets to product the fibre pulp. It is then mixed with water and poured into a shallow floating frame made from bamboo poles stretched with canvas, then sun-dried to produce the crisp long fibres.
