Description
High John Root, also known as "John the Conqueror" root, is a powerful and versatile botanical that has been used for centuries in folk magic and spiritual practices. This root is native to West Africa and was brought to the United States by enslaved Africans, where it quickly became a staple in hoodoo and other traditional African-American spiritual practices. The High John Root is known for its uplifting and protective qualities, and it is believed to bring good luck, success, and prosperity to those who use it. It can be used in a variety of ways, such as carried in a mojo bag, placed on an altar, burned as incense, or added to a spiritual bath.

Reviews for similar products from LA Herb: Herbs
Product had NO AROMA. Seller said two different reason why this product has no aroma- 1st they said that it was not the same thing as "standard sandalwood" that has an aroma. Then they said it was because all their herbs "are heat treated so the natural oils are not the same as it would be for the aroma" even though the product description says "Each batch of White Sandalwood Pieces (Santalum album) is carefully harvested and dried to preserve its fragrance, potency, and cooling properties."

The first rep that responded to the customer said they had to check with the team that it was different than standard sandalwood so they were unsure. After checking with the team, this item is heat treated as it's intended to be consumed. When the item is heat treated to kill bacteria and germs, the natural oils lessen which takes away from the aroma. This item is intended to be used in teas, it's not intended to be used otherwise. The customer was told they could return it by clicking return on the portal. —LA Herb • 16 jan 2026
