Versatile, Wholesome, Delicious Our Rice Grits (AKA Middlins or cracked rice) are a firm-textured, aromatic rice with a wholesome, nutty flavor. Rice Grits are smaller kernels that are broken during the milling process. They have been favored by Southern cooks for centuries. The smaller kernels cook up beautifully. They are perfect for a creamy risotto, absorbing flavors and creating a dish that's both aromatic and delicious. They have a similar texture to traditional grits and can easily stand-in your favorite grit's recipes; you get the best of both worlds! Our Process: Unlike modern rice that is often grown in sandy clay and harvested from multiple growers, we grow our rice in our peaty fields that are mineral and nutrient rich. We’re close enough to the ocean to flood our fields by tides, but far enough inland to receive natural freshwater river irrigation, which makes for delicious rice and a more sustainable farming method.
