It is highly prized in East Indian cultures and there is a high supply and demand for it. The essential oil is steam distilled from the heart of the wood or the trunk and the roots. It does not produce an essential oil until the tree is 30 years old. Because of this it is important to replant and or regenerate existing trees that have been harvested.
