Nailivic Studios defines our genre as “modern folk art”. Every item begins with a hand drawn illustration and is translated into laser-cut wall art or screen-printed apparel. The resulting artwork is boldly colored, tactile and affordable. Nailivic is Civilian spelled in reverse and as ordinary citizens, we believe we have the responsibility to change society for the better. Art is Nailivic Studios' tool of choice. We are a family-owned business based in Austin, Texas and our primary artist, Mark Puente, was raised in Guatemala and surrounded by themes of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), Mexican Lotería, intricate textiles and other folk art from around the world. Our product line, The Lotería Project, is a reimagining of the classic Mexican game of chance. Nailivic Studios takes inspiration from the iconic imagery within this multi-generational game, and creates new and relevant designs. The stories behind each design encourage us to consider our past, our present, our environment, our identity, our fears and our capacity for growth and action.
