Royal Malady is something I've always wanted to do in that innocent space called childhood. Real life got in the way, as did my love for running my advertising agency, and Royal Malady is my second foray into retail. At Rock Candy Media, I do passion projects to show clients we walk the talk, and those are the most powerful forms of case studies. However, with Royal Malady, I loved it so much that I publicly told the world that if the time ever came for a change I'd be making perfumes and colognes. I believe in the self taught, I only hire for people who are self-taught and it shows in our products. Being an avid collector of perfumes and colognes, I knew going into it what I wanted to improve, where I saw weak links and could therefore do something more smartly - like our two different build-in primers that other brands sell separately. Each of our fragrances has 4-7 layers. They are perfect standalone, but the reason it takes so long for another fragrance to drop is that we have stringent focus groups and each one of our fragrances is meant to also layer with any of our other RM scents, which is no easy feat.
