Hand-crafted out of Black Walnut, Cherry and Maple, this beauty gives classic rolling pin, but with a few flourishes. If Miss Clarissa and Little Bertha had a baby, Miss Shirley would be the end result. Shape-wise, it's the same cylinder with rotating handles as Bertha. Design-wise, it's the same eclectic mix of woods as the Miss Clarissa. Utilizing small pieces of wood left over from our spoons and lazy susans, we created this beautiful piece of art, with pieces of wood that dance around like jazz, with no specific pattern, no specific rhythm. Any baker - professional, casual or beginner - would love to have it. Named after Miss Shirley Taylor, who held down two full time jobs (in admissions & the local pub) at my undergrad. Her life was also jumbled up like this pin. She just retired after working for the university for 50 years.
