𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐄𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 Roy Lichtenstein was no stranger to sprinkling in a dramatic onomatopoeia here and there, and this solo edition is a prime example. As with many of the artist’s early masterpieces, this work depicts an explosion, typifying both the mechanical depersonalization and an American penchant for glorifying representations of war, popular at the time. With bright primary colors, he created a background which highlights the striking exclamation.
