Parks and Recreation is a masterclass in comedy. The unexpected breakout star for me would have to be Ron Swanson, played by Nick Offerman. I would like to argue for Ron Swanson- the feminist. He was a complicated character that could be dismissive and ornery and yet he believed in Leslie's capability and respected her immensely. I once had someone tell me how offensive he was and I argue that his character stands as a lesson in toxic masculinity and how anyone can grow and overcome their preconceived notions about what women are capable of, FEMINIST!
