HOW IT ALL BEGAN - 1899 Peter Ocko started filling duvets and pillows with pine flakes in 2015. What was initially intended as attention for acquaintances and neighbours soon developed into an independent company due to the lively demand. Peter Ocko received the knowledge about stone pine from his grandfather, who was born in 1899: he had reported from his war years that the soldiers filled their sleeping bags not only with corn leaves, but also with stone pine chips to keep mites and moths away. SUSTAINABILITY & EXCLUSIVITY The wood used in the gold pine products comes from the Nockberge region from sustainable forestry and is planed by hand in Klagenfurt. The lavender is also harvested and processed by hand in Carinthia. The duvets and pillows are also lovingly filled on site by hand. All fabrics are made from cotton and partly from organic cotton and are manufactured in Slovenia. The entire value chain of Goldzirbe is thus located in the Alps-Adriatic region. GOLD STONE PINE TODAY When Peter Ocko is looking for a successor who can support his vision and with whom he knows his pine trees are in good hands, he finds it in Benjamin Kuschnig. The advertising specialist has been in charge of the company since the beginning of 2021 and the umbrella brand “GOLD ZIRBE — The genuine Carinthian pine products” is created through a rebrand.
