About Sicels

Established in Copenhagen in late 2019 by Mariapia Mineo, MA in Fashion Design from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation, Sicels is a slow fashion studio that creates seasonless and timeless scarves inspired by Mediterranean patterns and colors. These scarves are ethically handcrafted in Italy and England, using only natural and sustainable textiles sourced from premium family-run studios. In addition to their focus on sustainable materials, Sicels also places a strong emphasis on reducing environmental impact. The studio works with innovative technology to minimize water usage and recycle excess dyes during the printing process. All dyes used are water-soluble, and fabrics are coated and prepared for printing using only natural products. Sicels produces all scarves in limited editions to avoid overproduction and encourage conscious purchasing. The studio's scarves are made from a variety of fabrics, including classic Silk twill and Crepe de Chine, as well as more sustainable alternatives such as Organic Peace silk, Merino virgin wool, Cotton voile, and Ecovero Viscose. The upcoming drop from Sicels will feature scarves made from Recycled "Spun" silk and GOTS certified silks, a move aimed at gradually reducing the use of regular silk in favor of more sustainable alternatives.
