About Sheryl Pape

I am originally from S.Wales and have had the fortune of living near the Gower Peninsular. I spent a lot of time with my mum in the garden propagating plants and learning about flowers. I have painted flowers and butterflies for many years and still find them fascinating hence most of my paintings contain horticultural Botanical subjects and Butterflies . I now live in Hampshire and have specialised in Botanical Art. I studied with the Society of Botanical Artists SBA and gained a distinction for my work and have since been awarded a Fellow membership. My work has been exhibited with SBA at Westminster Hall and Mall Galleries and was runner up to Best in Show the year before last . I sometimes teach Botanical Art and will post dates when they are running. I am currently working on many things such as Wild flowers of the Hampshire Hangars with local Botanist Steve Povey. We have found some very interesting species such as Herb Paris and Violet helleborine amongst other rare and not so rare plants. It’s always different every year. Apart from the Botanical work I like to paint in other genres and styles and love mythological stories. I like the magic of the trees and flowers so I try to combine them into colourful magical paintings. I sometimes use gold and silver leaf ,diamond dust and other shiny paints to add to the mythological mystery.
