As far back as I can remember, my sole passion has always been drawing. I recall my father, furious, asking me when I would finally grow up and stop drawing dresses, shoes, jewelry, and furniture all over my notebooks, books, and even my correspondence book. I was 14, in Cameroon, and I was already promising myself that fashion would be my life. Providence, however, led me to study architecture, which I completed across Europe, North Africa, and Asia. It was during this multidisciplinary and multicultural training that I was able to shape my vision of fashion and design, give meaning to my need to create and share my ideas, and reflect on the place of man in history and the perspective that different contemporary societies have of him. At the end of these 7 years of learning, my mind was made up: I was going to work on redefining the perception of man and masculinity through clothing, furniture, or space. After another 7 years of a career as an architect for prestigious fashion and beauty houses, I can finally share with you the stories, sometimes melancholic but always playful, that fill my imagination. This is the story behind Basiles, which is also that of this little boy, in pursuit of his dreams. Boris Djofang Founder and Artistic Director
