The Refugee Collective, formally MRC (Multicultural Refugee Coalition), employs refugees and immigrants in fair-wage, dignified work through two social enterprises: a textile manufacturing studio and an organic farm. Our enterprises are built at the intersection of the traditional, respected skills of sewing and farming that refugees bring and a growing market for local food & textile production. Working collaboratively, we support food access, regenerative agriculture, community gardens, fibershed initiatives, and sustainability while providing wrap around services for all Refugee Collective employees. Proudly, our work honors, and is informed by, traditional refugee skills. Our fibershed initiatives support refugee livelihoods through traditional artisan craft and farming, regenerative agriculture, and sustainable practices in the textile industry. Our products are about complete transparency and 100% organic products with dye grown and sewn by our refugee farmers and artisans. *Organic Texas Cotton: Certified Organic Cotton grown in the Texas panhandle *USA Made Canvas: Fair-wage employees milled, spun, and wove fabric in North Carolina *Texas Natural Dye: 100% organically-grown plants in Elgin, TX by refugee farmers *Natural Dye: Partnering with local restaurants to sustainably use food scraps *Hand-Dyed & Sewn: Each piece is hand dyed & sewn by the all-women refugee team in Austin, TX Thanks for supporting the refugee farmers and artisans of Austin, Texas.
