Heart of Gold is an independent handmade jewelry company based in Charleston, SC. I am a mostly self-taught metalsmith specializing in small-batch, semi-precious gemstone jewelry. Metalsmithing is the process of creating jewelry through the fabrication of metals. There is a lot of sawing, some fire, a TON of filing, and sometimes tears. Think of it as tiny welding. I call myself small-batch because sometimes the gemstones I source just aren't available in huge quantities. This might mean that once a certain style is sold out, it is gone forever. I work with brass and then send the finished pieces out to be gold plated with a thick layer of 14k gold, and then e-coated. E-coating is a process in which metal is plated with a thin, clear ceramic layer, which creates a barrier between the metal and the environment protecting it from tarnishing. E-coating also makes the metal hypoallergenic, allowing anyone with metal allergies to wear the jewelry. I make a wide range of styles and offer pieces that can fit easily into anyone's wardrobe. From delicate and dainty everyday pieces to big and bold statement makers. My larger earrings are surprisingly lightweight for their size and made with sterling silver ear posts which are suitable for sensitive ears. Questions? Want to chat?
